— Board and Travel
When employees are requested by the employer to use their own vehicle for the convenience of the employer, they shall be compensated at $0.68 per kilometer for the duration of this Agreement. Employees shall not be discriminated against for refusing to use their own vehicles. When camp accommodations are not provided, an employee who is directed to the job site by the company and referred by the union whose primary residence is located outside one hundred (100) kilometers on Industrial Projects and one hundred fifty (150) kilometers on Commercial Projects from the job site shall receive free board and lodging. If free board and lodging is not provided, employees shall receive a living out allowance of ninety-one dollars ($91.00) on signing, ninety-five dollars ($95.00) effective May 1, 2023, and ninety-eight dollars ($98.00) effective May 1, 2024 per day worked with a valid receipt where they are accommodated overnight Employees on industrial job sites who are obligated to remain on the jobsite and their primary residence is located one hundred (100) kilometers from the jobsite shall receive seven (7) days room and board provided they work their full regularly scheduled shift. In the event employees do not complete their scheduled shifts, they shall receive room and board for days worked unless off for medical reasons (doctor’s note required) or pre- approved time off. CLRA and Carpenters Local 579 Collective Agreement 2022 - 2027 gw of 31 a) In order to qualify for the Living Out Allowance (LOA), the member will have to supply the following information at the time of hire: One (1) of the following pieces of information: Property Tax Assessment, Utility Bill/Home Telephone Statement, Rental Agreement (Tenancy Lease), Work Visa/Work Permit. Plus one (1) of the following recent pieces of information: Driver’s License/Vehicle Registration or Pink Card, CRA Taxpayer’s Notice of Assessment/Service Canada Documents, Rental or Home Owners Contents Insurance Policy. The name of the member and current address must be clearly indicated on the documentation provided.
