STEWARDS

The Business Agent or Business Manager shall appoint job Stewards and prior to such appointment shall discuss the appointment with the employer. The Steward of the Union will be an employee of the employer who is a qualified journeyperson and who will perform the work of a journeyperson at the journeyperson's rate of pay. In addition to their duties as a journeyperson, they shall be permitted reasonable time to perform such of their Union duties as cannot be performed off the job. If it is necessary for the Steward to leave their work they must first obtain permission from the Foreman or Superintendent whenever possible. Such permission would not be unreasonably withheld. They shall assist the employer and the Union members in carrying out the provisions of this Agreement.
