(1) A member of the board and of a panel has the powers that are or may be conferred on a commissioner under the Public Inquiries Act.

The board or panel may receive or accept evidence and information on oath, affidavit or otherwise that it considers appropriate, whether or not that evidence or information is admissible as evidence in a court of law.
