(1) The weight of a load to be hoisted by a crane or hoist shall be determined by the equipment operator and communicated to a worker involved in the hoisting operation.

Where the weight of a load cannot be determined, the crane or hoist to be used for the lift shall have either a load weight indicator or a load limiting device.
